About the High Commission

The High Commission of India, Islamabad is the diplomatic representation of the Republic of India in Pakistan.  It serves as the official channel in Pakistan for diplomatic and official relations and interaction between India and Pakistan.

The High Commission is headed by a High Commissioner, who is the plenipotentiary representative of the President of India in Pakistan.

The High Commissioner is assisted by a Deputy High Commissioner and other diplomats and staff in the High Commission.

The High Commission is located in the Diplomatic Enclave of Islamabad, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan since the 1960s.  The High Commission was earlier located in Karachi, which was the capital of Pakistan after the country’s independence in 1947.
